FQHCs are required by HRSA to serve all patients regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability to pay. Many FQHCs participate in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and provide PrEP, hormone therapy, gender-affirming care, and HIV treatment on a sliding fee scale.
For LGBTQ+ patients without affirming providers, FQHCs offer primary care that's required to be culturally competent. Federal regulations protect access for all gender identities.
